SQL Standards - The History
Don Deutsch: “The creation of software standards can seem academic. In reality, it’s big business.”
It is a short one page article about the evolution of SQL "standards"; in the business perspective. I think it is somewhat biased towards Oracle.
Andrew Carr: “How to cut through the standards hype and make sure new standards work for you.”
Reading both these articles in one shot makes me think that standards are not all that good these days for the consumer and the developer
