Kangaroos bite dust

Kudos to Sri Lankans for completely outplaying Aussies

Aussies got royally thrashed by Sri Lanka in the Champion’s Trophy semifinals. Before all the excuses start flowing down from Aussie press, Daniel Laidlaw has written a pretty neat piece on the whole thing. Aussies might be the #1 team, but apart from Gilchrist’s batting, there is nothing exciting about watching them play.

India seem to be playing well these days. I think the full credit goes to Saurav Ganguly for his captaincy. Though the victory against England was comprehensive, I couldn’t believe that India won against South Africa in the last 10 overs.

As a cricket fan, I don’t care much for which team wins. There needs to be excitement - either individual brilliance or collective effort that is not clinical.

That said, I still wish India wins the trophy. Ganguly’s men have been really playing as a team and they have lost quite a few finals, before the thrilling win in the Natwest Tri-series final.
