Best fall foliage

MSN picks the top 10 places for fall colors in the USA.

MSN Cityguide: Editors choice - “Marvel at the fiery shades of fall before theyre gone: 10 best locales for leaf peeping.” If I’m still in the USA during the next two months, this offers me two places that are near enough for extended weekend drives.

  1. Blue Ridge Parkway: Asheville, N.C.
A 469-mile stretch along the Appalachian chain is a favorite autumnal drive.
  2. Rhinebeck: Rhinebeck, N.Y.
Dazzling foliage adds a charming backdrop to the history-drenched estates and storybook homes.

An old photo of me at Skyline Drive Since I’m lazy enough on the weekends, I think I’ll end up going to the Skyline Drive often. It is just 100 miles from my place and is the northern tip of Blueridge Parkway. I usually cover around 60-100 miles in the drive, before heading home.

This is an old photo I’ve. Taken in 1998. Which reminds me, I need to scan several photos. My wife has been laboriously collecting all of our old photos and arranging these in albums. I think I’ll just scan whole pages from the album and then use Python to split these into individual images. May be use Dawn’s unsharp mask settings to create a GIMP script to touch these up. My knowledge and interest in web graphics is limited. I simply don’t have the patience to tweak the graphics :-)

  1. You appear to be being affected by being surrounded by Americans. You can get *out* of the car if you want, remember! Get out, feel the earth beneath your feet, breathe the air.
