Ed Foster reports that HP will not give you a backup media for Windows XP unless you prove that it is absolutely necessary. I think this makes the decision to buy new PCs with Windows XP pre-installed a no-brainer, at least from HP; atleast for home use. At home, things like hard-disk crash, power outage etc. happens much more than it does at work.
I have worked with HP hardware since 1993 and I used to love their quality and robustness - not to mention the fit and finish. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about their PCs. This kind of business decisions are not helping either.
Ah, where can I get a good new PC without any operating system? No, I don’t want to buy from the web, but would rather walk into a shop and get it.
