Guido van Rossum, benevolent dictator for life of python is this year’s recipient for FSF-Award.html">FSF award for advancement of free software.
Guido gets my vote too. Coding in python - even small scripts - have helped me rediscover the joys of programming. I started programming in C, then worked in Oracle and Pro*C and HP-UX/Linux. Since I started working on the web in 1999, I seldom get a chance to work in interesting projects or in Unix shell. Working in VBScript and Javascript with HTML as a front end is not very enjoyable - especially since there is no shortage of people who want to have a say on how a site or web application should look!
