Introduction to Oracle data dictionary

Getting around Oracle

O'ReillyNet: “The master key to Oracle’s data dictionary”.

Pretty decent introductory article. In my opinion, the best way to figure out a database design is by:

  1. Get a list of objects
  2. Identify static tables and study the data in those
  3. Figure out the relations
  4. Look for triggers
  5. Study the unattended batch processes that run
  6. Lastly, look at the UI
  1. I am learning Oracle, so I would appreciate any input from your expertise.

  4. Hi,

I have been doing the Database stuff (academically/professionally) for almost past 6 years. I am planning to go for OCP (8i, DBA). In case if you happen to have some previous test papers, please let me know. I'll pay for the postal and photo copy charges, so that you can send them to me. All this only if you are willing to send them to me.
    Thank you,
    Srikanth.
PSS: I am currently in Texas.
