2003 BMW Z4

What kind of design is this? I think they killed a timeless BMW look for the sake of "new" design.

Carpoint, while previewing hot cars for 2003 shows a photo of the new BMW Z4.

2003 BMW Z4

I don’t like the way it looks.

  1. Looks like a Pontiac without plastic cladding, rather than a BMW.
  2. Feline headlights are more Korean than European. Hyundai Tiburon?
  3. What is with that curved line from headlight through the door?
  4. Another line that flows from the mirror to the mud guard makes it look like an underwear (rather large) left to dry on the door.
  5. Again, the overall look is like a Mercury Cougar (1998-present) made by Pontiac.
  6. Not seen in this photo, but the rear end sports round tail lamps, I believe. Not BMW'ish.

The front end looks to me like a 50 year old lady, made up trying to look like a 20 year old. And whats more, she is picking both her nostrils and smirking at you.

Harsh words, but that’s how I picturized it. Yuck! It is all right since I wouldn’t be buying this car (or any BMW for that matter) anytime soon. BMW’s are way out of my price range and I don’t have the attitude to change cars when new models come out.

  1. Change is not for everyone. I think the new BMW Z4 looks stronger and more powerful than its predecessor. It is a look that to me says catch me if you can.

  2. The Z4 would look better with round headlamps, and arched wheelhouses and no weird door line. Straighten up the grill teeth, and put more oval into the front dam/scoop. That would give it the look of a muscled sports car and it would no longer look like a rubber hand sanding pad.

  3. Its a best roadster I ever seen. The power of the engine is great.there is more power and elasticity than in Porshe boxter ...............and it means something/VVVVVrrrrrrrrrrrn/

  4. I feel a sense of loss when critics looks at BMW, past, present and future (unseen and unthought of) and feel the need to negatively comment on these products.

I recently bought a BMW 318ci for my wife. Believe you me, my adrenalin is already racy for the 2004 5 series to the extent that I feel the need to walk in a garage and commence negotiation.

These cars are one of the best driving machine ever manufactured on the face of the earth.

Please, don't compare them to volume cars!

    Regards,

    Kay

  7. Just bought a brandnew Landshark, and let me tell you, this car has it all! It has the looks, the power, the luxurious details and more than anything else, it has attitude! Sure, it may not have that classic BMW look, but hey!, this is 2003..time to move on. I love it and will pass it on to my 10 year old son when he starts driving.
