Asterix and Mickey

Which is better? IMO, Asterix. There is no comparison.

Asterix Site Discussion in Slashdot has lot of comments about these. Quite frankly, I don’t think Mickey and Donald are anywhere near Asterix cartoons. Asterix cartoons have hilarious story lines, most of these being adaptation of 20th century life to 50BC. There is terrific attention to details. In almost every box, there is some small funny thing that might’ve escaped your attention during the first reading.

Some people have accused Asterix of being racist. I doubt it. For God’s sake, it is a cartoon! They make fun of everyone. I think they make greatest fun about French people and the Romans.

I still need to get 2 or 3 to complete my collection. So far, the top three, in my opinion are:

  1. Asterix And The Magic Carpet.
  2. Asterix And The Black Gold.
  3. Asterix And The Normans.

By the way, I think Mickey and Donald are good - though I like Chip 'N Dale more. Asterix comics are on a completely different level.

  1. I read some time back that, Astrix is a recommended textbook for a History PG course in some university....

    Anyhow, the idea of comparing Astrix to Mickey is lame...

    Asterix rocks! Its just the best cartoon strip I've ever read. 'am a dying fan of Asterix.

    got few books in my collection. Do you by chance know any place where I can buy second - hand Asterix comics?
