Last year, I used SMIL - Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language - a little bit. It is fairly simple XML. At the time, I used RealPlayer to view the documents. There could be many more viewers available now. Devshed introductory article is a good starting point.
MSDN had some articles at the time about similar techniques - they called it HTML+Time. Looks like they are now calling it SMIL too.
I don’t generally like to work in graphics mainly because I don’t have patience or skills to do it properly. However, having graphics defined by plain text formats like SMIL and SVG interest me deeply. I believe charts are the best way to easily grasp data. So, these things could be really helpful in generating aggregate reports - very useful for data warehouses.
