Indian special forces tops

Indian special forces team beat US, SA, UK and France in the macho-men competition!
Times of India: “Mention ‘Special Forces’ and the intrepid Israelis, the gung-ho Americans or the secretive British come to mind. But, it appears that it is the Indians who are the toughest of them all. This is what a gruelling contest determined last week.”
“The Israelis were not there, but a team of India’s 10 Special Forces (SF), led by Captain Krishnadas, outshone their counterparts from the US, South Africa, U.K., France, hosts Botswana and a clutch of African nations in the Kalahari desert.”

No better way to start a Sunday morning than by feeling proud.

  1. We from the Indian Special Forces feel proud of our achievements,in todays scenario we are the most combat experienced organisation. We might not have the werewithal available with our cunterparts in thw western world but we make it up bu having more grit an determination an raw courage than the others. The world shall see!

  6. American/British special forces are given MACHO image only by the innumerable hollywood films that depict these average guys as some kind of superhuman beign.

When it comes to toughness(both physical & mental) Indians lead the way.

  7. No matter what the criteria for the effectiveness of Special Forces is concerned, it is the man behind the gun that makes all the difference.
Our guys have the guts to handle any scenario but just imagine how deadly they could become if better weapons and equipment were provided to them!!

  9. indian sp ops are probably the best in the world, they definatyely are the toughest. Yanks get bloody nose when the enter a pitch gun fight. This was true in Somalia and now in Afghanistan when there best Delta Sqd sissys got a hammering in Kandhar.

Indian Sp Ops if equipped with new weapons and gizmos would be unbeatable.....No doubts

knowing how to do it requires skill but knowing how to do it under intense pressure requires GUTS.And we have got it in us.

  18. we are offcourse proud of our special forces, as far as american forces are concerned they have lot of sophistication and help from other sources. our forces can only be compared to israilies. major sudhir balia had shown the stuff after kargil.being a sujanian and an indian we are proud on him and 9 paras.

  20. I wish the Indian Government develop a Special Forces team on the lines of SAS of Britain and give them full support in terms of training, equipment, salary, perks, etc., and make our special forces the best in the world. They should be able to go undercover deep in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Dubai and carry out special operations like killing Dawood Ibrahim and his gang and destroying his infrastructure, killing the terrorist leaders and destroying the terroist training camps in Pakistan, destroying the strategic sites in Pakistan, etc., in short creating mayhem in Pakistan and make it bleed. It will make them realise the cost of their support to terrosism in India and gradually cease their activities.

  21. The best you say?? Apparently the dismal results of operation Operation Bluestar have been forgotten. The western participants in this event were not chosen from their elite branches. They were merely common paratroopers.

  22. The Indian Special Forces is a jewel in the crown of the Indian army,we are proud of our "red Devils" we the Indians are best it is proved by our SF team in south africa,May we always win ,may our soil produce more tigers of men blessed is this land & iam the proudest man when i call myself an Indian hats off to SF for hoisting our tricolour on top of the world.

  24. Operation BlueStar? so now you've decided top bring out ONE operation out of hundreds that have taken place around the world. comon, stop fooling yourselves, best SF are Israeli and American Rangers, NOT Indian SF, all that hype and over enthusiasim is good for morale boost for the army and country, but thats about it.

Posted by: ali on August 1, 2003 06:12 PM
  25. Ali, that is your opinion and you are entitled to it. Yes, it is good for morale and enthusiasm. Whether "thats about it" is for individuals to judge rather than following dictums (or tantrums if I may judge) on "stop fooling yourselves".

The whole point of this post is that I fealt good about *reading it*. If you got a problem with the facts as reported by Times of India, I suggest you take it up with them - not here, unless your grievance is about some people feeling good about something.

I don't claim to be a military expert. So, I'm not judging where Indian forces stand. Neither am I judging how Yankees and Israelis perform. I merely wish to support my troops and hope all the best for them.

Please note that I won't have unnecessary name calling and flaming on *my site* and reserve the rights to remove comments I *judge* to be against that spirit.

  27. in covert operation and close quarter combat, india has been very advanced since the days of Shivaji with his guerilla tactics of engagement. The Maratha were also quite versed with the specials operation much before the west has got a taste of it .

Posted by: athara on September 13, 2003 03:49 AM
  28. lol american rangers?Sure theyre one of the best out there but not THE best. The fact that the 10 para beat them AND the SAS proves clearly that they arent the best out there.Besides as far as combat experience goes there have been more Indian army special operations in kashmir than rangers have ever seen.Operation Bluestar was nothing compared to some of the covert ops that actually took place in Sri Lanka and Kashmir.Lets face it.The 10 para is one of the best combat ready, experienced SF battalion in the world.

  30. Ops Blue Star was a political fiasco, in which Indian Troops were not given Ammo to fire back for the first 72 hrs. Don’t believe me..check the history out.
let me take u to Op Cactus - Maldivies where Indian SP Ops were the dudes that set a country free, Now which country Spec oPS have done that. And If US Spec Ops are the best why do they get thrashed. Kargil had countless unrecorded daring acts, which we civilians would never come to know. Israelis are good coz there govt gives them a free hand rather thats the state policy. If you want similar blood letting , change the constitution that withholds a no holds barred SF OpS

  31. I wonder how many of us criticizing Indian SF Ops know the size and structure of Army, Naval as well Home Ministry Spec Op Units.. its quite a size gents, there are black units belonging to RAW / IB as well..who knows. we wake up every morning and admire ourselves and our surroundings, well its these guys and countless others who make that possible...so i wonder why all the negativism al about...give that a thought guys

  42. Bravo !!
I've basked and felt pampered as an Indian with news like that and its true if the American Special Forces were so great lots of people wud not even know about them. Theres no doubt we're TOP OF THE TOPS. How many people know of our paras, success more than secrecy is our codeword there. We strike and do not get discovered and for that we don't want anybody's certification. Izzat - o - Iqbal fellow Indians.

  43. I agree that the Indian special forces have had alot of experience and are very tough but everyone seems to have overlooked what is widely regarded by America, Canada, Germany, France and the majority of elite units around the world, as the most feared special forces unit on the planet...The australian SAS. Vietnam left them with a 500-1 kill ratio and it had not changed since! They have also seen some of the most action of any uni ie. vietnam, Malayia, Papua new guinie, East Timor, Afganistan and Iraq to mention a few.
