In this dW article, Gerhard Poul shows how XML-based Jabber fits into today’s e-business infrastructure, lighting instant messaging in a whole new way.
Pretty good article. What I’d like to do is to enhance the Zope CMF discussion tool so that it works as a communication pipe that archives the discussions on to the web site. Members can choose to discuss using instant messaging or using e-mail (like mailing list) or whatever comes up next. With open protocol Jabber and Jabber bots, integrating IM should not be that tough. With Jabber XML-RPC and Zope’s inbuilt XML-RPC support, we can probably even make client-side Jabber applications that can save data into ZODB.
