Excite News: "Former tennis star Steffi Graf won a court case against Microsoft Germany on Tuesday over fake nude photos of her that were posted on a Web site run by the company."
Microsoft Germany spokesman Bernhard Grander said the company disagrees with the court’s decision and said it "endangers the existence of live-chat and private (Internet) communities."
I wonder if this opinion will remain if some doctored photo of his family member appeared on the net. There is an old saying in Malayalam (my native language) that can be roughly translated to "It is really funny to see the neighbour’s mom getting sick" - don’t take it literally; Malayalam is a language that gives in way too much to sarcasm. It means that you never realise the importance of some thing until it happens to you.
I think privacy laws should be held in balance with freedom of speech. That said, I don’t think it matters if this was on a site operated by MS. Any journalism should respect privacy - even if it is celebrities'.
