The Week: "Chief information officer to chief knowledge officer. Will businesses now need a chief wisdom officer? "
Pretty good article about knowledge management efforts in Wipro.
I really liked the following quotes by Dr. Anurag Srivastava, CKO of Wipro.
"Right knowledge is decided by three factors. One is the business objective, second is called change proficiency (if a person’s role is changed, which happens very often here, the system should have the expertise captured with respect to that role by previous guys and the cycle of change for the new person should be effective within 2-4 weeks) and third is called pluggability, which is the measurement of reuse."
"In any kind of activity, 46 per cent of the time is spent collecting information, around 26-28 per cent time on analysis, and only 20-22 per cent of the time is spent in actual creation. So, on average 74 per cent of the time is spent on information collection and analysis. And somebody in the system would have already done that probably. So from a pluggability stand point, the best what people have practically attained is around 60 per cent. It is a long way off, but that is one of our objectives." In other words, to spend more time creating new things rather than reinventing the wheel everytime.
"Cultural change happens in four steps-awareness, interest, desire and action."
