Three years working on the web (NT, ASP, HTML, CSS, Zope) has made me really miss Oracle and Unix. Hell, the biggest system I designed for web in these 3 years has only 15 tables and Oracle is now at version 9i. How many times can one find fixing HTML templates and links interesting?
Good things are also there. Found out about Zope and Python. Got more insight into usability. Got a completely different customer experience where every one knows what they want and how they want it to be done - funny thing about web is that customers not only want to specify the page design, but also database design - usually with some MS-Access background - and completely unrealistic schedules.
Personal goal for next year: Find out what is new in Oracle 9i, make some applications using Designer and Developer. Learn SQLJ and Java within database paradigm.
