Slashdot thread on Google offering API using SOAP. Good, that means there are going to be some standards for this.
In January, I modified the search script used on our intranet sites to provide an XML-RPC interface. It was *so* easy. Using that, we could make a mega search page, to search through sites existing in different servers.
