Went to Junkbusters.com today. Absolutely love their anti-telemarketing script. I’m going to get a printout next week and keep it handy.

My recent experiences with telemarketers are below.

Virginia Police Associations/Fraternities/Brotherhoods

Since Sep. 11, I’m getting bombarded with tele marketing calls from many different police organizations during dinner time. Most of them are very arrogant. Typical call goes like this - "Good evening, I’m so-and-so from Virginia blah-blah POLICE blah-blah organization. Thank you for wearing seat belt. I can send you a pledge form for $35, $50 or $75. Which one would you prefer?" The words POLICE and the $75 alone are legible. No one tells what their organizations do. One guy told that they build lodges and inns, the profit from which are for officers.

MCI for long distance service

After I told them to back off, they don’t call anymore. However, there was one guy who just wouldn’t hang up. But he had good sense of humor when I said that I don’t want to switch, he shot back - "I know. Otherwise you’d be calling me!"

Verizon online DSL

I still get calls. Irony is that I’m already a subscriber.

Discover Credit Card

These guys are impossible. They usually call during the working hours and ask my wife whether she can give my work phone number. Yeah right, last thing I need at work is a tele-marketing call.
