Back from vacation

Finally, had a much needed - not enough though - time away from computers. We went to Orlando, Florida on 20^th and came back this evening.

It was fun. We enjoyed it. To summarize:

The Good

• Southwest Airlines/Vacations - great prices, great service.
• DigitalFotoClub - finally, a good online merchant selling good stuff at good rates.
• Motoring in Florida on a convertible.
• Epcot.
• Black Angus Steakhouse - great food, good service.
• Superb sunny weather in Florida on all days, except yesterday.
• Magic Kingdom.
• Parking lanes in Florida - much wider than in Virginia!

The Bad

• Universal Studios - “where the lines are long, prices are high and the attractions are way too smalll”. Bad food is a bonus.
• Animal Kingdom. This is not bad entirely. Nothing much to see, Smithsonian Zoo is much better. Really bad food - no wonder animals were looking famished.

The Ugly

• Golden China restaurant in Kissimmee. Apparently this only serves a buffet, an all-you-can-eat one. They probably need to pay you if you find something edible. The service is very friendly though.
• Airport Security. This is my first time on airports after September 11, 2001. TSA’s random checks seem to focus mostly on non-whites. The security dictums coupled with we-do-only-what-the-process-mandates mentality makes me really afraid of flying within USA.
• Arriving back in Baltimore airport during a snow storm. Tough luck.

Several things to do in the coming days, not counting things to do at the office. I need to write a tour diary - before I forget - with some photos. Then I need to release atleast an alpha version of a GUI batch script builder/runner I’m working on using ImageMagick as the back-end engine.
