OSDir.com has a very short note on Blackbox window manager. I used to use KDE 3, but within a week, I started missing the lightweight nature of Blackbox.
After some looking around, I settled for Fluxbox, which is a variant of Blackbox with some nice features. Set it up with keyboard shortcuts and I’m very happy with it.
Open 1024x768 image in a new window
Screenshot taken this day shows Mozilla, gkrellm on the dock, rxvt, scite ans xawtv with image from my webcam - ok, it is sunday morning, drizzling outside and I’m half asleep
Quick note to setup keyboard shortcuts. Define these in the file ~/.fluxbox/keys and restart FluxBox. The modifier keys can be defined
easily as Mod1, Mod2 etc. Mod1 is Alt. Here's
my sample definition.
Mod1 F6 ExecCommand rxvt -sr
Mod1 F7 ExecCommand mozilla
Mod1 F8 ExecCommand pan
Mod1 F9 ExecCommand gvim
